Strike Authorization Vote

I want to thank our Members who are rightfully still seething over the management hostility (RESET) faced in the wake of the 2012 contract negotiations. Members of (IAM), District Lodge 776 – Local Lodges 776A, 776B and 776C, voted overwhelmingly 1710 to 36 yesterday to authorize a strike if acceptable terms cannot be reached before the current contract expires on July 10, 2016. This vote includes our members located at Edwards Air Force Base in California and at Patuxent River in Maryland. The Firefighters and Nurses Units also voted overwhelmingly for Strike Authorization.

This vote confirms your high level of support and will help your committee obtain a contract that reflects the company’s financial success and fully respects the contributions of our highly skilled workforce. Throughout the history of this plant and multiple programs this company has asked our membership to do the impossible, and time and time again you have delivered! No more so than on the current F-35 program. You helped them win it and through your hard work and effort it will soon go into full production.

Your Key issues are quality healthcare choices at a fair cost, Improved pension/401K, Improved cost of living supplements and substantial general wage increases. You also have called for an end to all aggressive and punitive (RESET) practices held over from 2012.

We intend to bargain in good faith up to the last day if necessary, but we will not accept less than our membership deserves and expects.

Your Committee again thanks you for your support!

Fraternally Yours

Your Negotiating Committee
